MARIAH CAREY JOINS THE "AMERICAN IDOL" JUDGES TABLE

It was announced today that Mariah Carey has officially signed on to be at the judges table for the 12th season of American Idol. Last year's season for the reality show franchise saw the lowest ratings in their 11 season run.

Mariah Carey expressed, "I am so excited to be joining 'Idol'. This kind of all just happened really quickly. I can't wait to get started in the fall ... and I will see you in January."

Fox entertainment chief Kevin Reilly added that Mariah is "the biggest recording artist that any of these (talent) shows has ever had. She is the "artist that many of these contestants have tried to emulate, have tried some of the songs, have tried to hit the notes. Not being the only game in town now, we need to keep things fresh. The search is on for a third judge, and (we) promise another impressive pick. It could a star or someone like music executive and 'Idol' mentor Jimmy Iovine, who wasn't a household name when he joined. After 12 seasons we need to have something to talk about. We have the biggest names in the business, like Mariah Carey, interested in doing this ... so for the next couple of weeks it will be a matter of picking the right one, with the right chemistry, making the deal, and finalizing this."

Former judge Simon Cowell even weighed in on the news saying, "I'm happy for her, actually. I like Mariah. I think she's going to find it difficult to say no. You've got to say no to people and she's sweet. No, I think she'll be great."

Now talks are still in speculation that Jennifer Lopez isn't 100% out just yet, but how they the show support two divas? Let alone, Mariah Carey will be making about $18 million a year with option for renewal. With all the other talent competition shows, it seems like every year, you have to up the ante and get someone big to join. Look at what X-Factor did by hiring Britney Spears and Demi Lovato. I personally would definitely tune in now to watch Britney Spears AND Mariah Carey. So what's the future with the 3rd seat on the judges table up for grabs? I guess we just have to wait and see. Until then...

Tune in for season 12 of American Idol in January 2013!

JENNIFER LOPEZ AND AMERICAN IDOL PART WAYS

Now one day after fellow judge Steven Tyler announced that him and American Idol are parting ways, Jennifer Lopez is now following suit. Both her and Steven joined the judges panel for seasons 10 and 11 of the talent competition which brought a much needed makeover to the show. This past season 11 had the lowest viewer ratings in American Idol history.

"Something had to give, something has to give. I was really dreading this phone call with you. I honestly feel the time has come that I have to get back to doing the other things that you do, and you have to pay attention to that, too. I could keep doing Idol for the rest of my life, but that would be giving up a bunch of other things. I feel like we had an amazing run. No matter what you guys need over there, I'm always going to be here. I feel there's that tie there. I just can't be there every day like I was for the last two years. It's just one of those special things in your life you don't want to walk away from," she added tearfully."

American Idol has definitely catapulted Jennifer Lopez into a super mega-star! Not only has she been on top of the charts again, but where do you not see all these Jennifer Lopez endorsements? She's seriously in like everything! I feel that through the show, Jennifer Lopez has definitely humanized the celebrity we usually refer to as JLo. She sympathized a lot with the contestants. Since she's not going to be a judge anymore, she said how open she was to being a mentor for one of the weeks while working with the contestants on the show. I know she would be a great fit!

Now for the future of American Idol, where will it head to now? Technically, Randy Jackson is the only judge left, let alone the original! I feel for American Idol to continue competing with other talent competitions, they need to start on a clean slate. Yes I said it, bring 3 new judges to the table! Stay tuned!

Steven Tyler Leaves American Idol

Now that the 11th season of American Idol is under wraps, Steven Tyler has decided to leave American Idol after being a judge for two seasons with Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez.

"After some long ... hard ... thoughts ... I’ve decided it’s time for me to let go of my mistress ‘American Idol’ before she boils my rabbit. I strayed from my first love, AEROSMITH, and I’m back – but instead of begging on my hands and knees, I’ve got two fists in the air and I’m kicking the door open with my band. The next few years are going to be dedicated to kicking some serious ass – the ultimate in auditory takeover. On Nov. 6, we are unleashing our new album, Music from Another Dimension on the Earth, Moon, Mars, and way beyond the stars. IDOL was over-the-top fun, and I loved every minute of it ... Now it’s time to bring Rock Back. ERMAHGERD.”

Simon Fuller, co-creator and executive producer of American Idol commented, "I completely understand his desire to get back to his life as the singer in America's greatest-ever rock band. AMERICAN IDOL will miss him!”

I am glad to hear that Aerosmith is getting back together. Though I loved the 10th season of American Idol when Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler joined Randy Jackson as the judges, I felt Steven Tyler didn't really fit in. Yes, he is a veteran in the music industry, but I felt a lot of his critique was useless. Not to mention, his comments, especially to the females were a bit controversial and risque. There were quite a few times where I'd be like "Omg, did he just say that to that minor?! With her parents, even dad right there?!" Best of luck to Aerosmith though, I can't wait to hear their new stuff. Special shout out to Joe Perry ;)

Forbes Names Jennifer Lopez the Most Powerful Celebrity

When you think of Forbes, you think of money am I right? As you know money equals power and for this year's list, an unlikely name was the frontrunner: Jennifer Lopez. For some reason though, I wasn't at all surprised. I mean Jennifer Lopez is on top of her game right now. She's a judge on the popular reality talent competition American Idol, L'Oreal spokesmodel, Venus spokesmodel, perfumes, clothing and accessory line, and a great music/acting career! She seriously has every avenue covered, and she's not failing at anything!

This year's celebrity Forbes list was ranked by earnings, press coverage, and Internet impact. Fame is essentially measured by media visibility in print, television, radio, and online, plus social media power on Facebook and Twitter. Jennifer Lopez catapulted to from #50 last year to #1 this year! Earnings consist of celeb pre-tax income from May 1, 2011 to May 1, 2012.

The Top Ten (Source Copyright Business Wire 2012):

NAME | 2012 Rank | 2012 Earnings | 2011 Rank | 2011 Earnings

Jennifer Lopez | 1 | $ 52 million | 50 | $ 25 million

Oprah Winfrey | 2 | $165 million | 2 | $290 million

Justin Bieber | 3 | $ 55 million | 3 | $ 53 million

Rihanna | 4 | $ 53 million | New | N/A

Lady Gaga | 5 | $ 52 million | 1 | $ 90 million

Britney Spears | 6 | $ 58 million | Returnee | N/A

Kim Kardashian | 7 | $ 18 million | New | N/A

Katy Perry | 8 | $ 45 million | 12 | $ 44 million

Tom Cruise | 9 | $ 75 million | Returnee | N/A

Steven Spielberg | 10 | $ 130 million | 22 | $107 million

It's nice to see a woman take the number one spot on this list! I absolutely love Jennifer Lopez. She is definitely one of the hardest working women in Hollywood and she deserves all the success she has ever experienced!

Fantasia and Chaka Khan in Catsuits? MEOOOWW... (via Yahoo!)

Fantasia Barrino Vs. Chaka Khan: ‘American Idol’ Catsuit Battle

*My take on this: FANTASIA... *sigh* Girl, why?? Your voice is outstanding... you don't need all that. Chaka Khan: More SPANX... but GET IT, CHAKA!*
Me-ow. "The finale of "American Idol" was awfully catty. The season 3 winner wore a skintight body suit with  leg cut-outs. The "Idol" alum appeared on stage to sing with Joshua Ledet. Then fur was flying when pop idol Chaka Khan showed up in a chocolate-colored sparkly catsuit to perform "I’m Every Woman." But few women could pull off the outfits of these two.

-Yahoo!

The ‘American Idol’ finale was more than just about crowning a winner on May 23 it was a catsuit battle, and HollywoodLife.com has the details and wants YOUR vote!
Fans weren’t only focused on who would win American Idol during the show, they were debating who wore the better skin-tight catsuit! Twitter caught fire when season three winner Fantasia Barrino showed up in a super tight leg baring get up and then Chaka Khan wore a curve hugging brown bodysuit — MEOW!
Fantasia was there to sing with Joshua Ledet and fans say that she was even making up lyrics to Elton John‘s “Take Me To The Pilot.”
But it appears dressing like cat woman is trendy these days because when Chaka showed up to sing the hit “I’m Every Woman,” she was in the tightest sequined getup ever on American Idol!
Then she caused another stir on the red carpet when she said she’d love to take J.Lo’s spot if she doesn’t return to American Idol: “They could use a little bit of truth, honesty. I’d like that.”

-The Hollywood Life, OMG

AMERICAN IDOL SEASON 11 FINALE!

Let me be the one to tell you that American Idol has the Best Finale! Seriously all the other shows try to top it, but I believe no one EVER will! They have so much star power, and just the entire segment of the special two hour finale is filled with surprises and amazingness!

I feel it's like you cannot meet one moment of the entire show because every second of it has something worthy of tuning into. Just to name a "few" of the jam-packed duets and guest performances: Rihanna performed "Where Have You Been"; Chaka Kahn joined all the female finalists in singing "I'm Every Woman"; Neil Diamond sang "Sweet Caroline" with all the male finalists; Reba McEntire and Skylar Laine sang "Turn on the Radio"; Josha Ledet and Fantasia Barrino sang Elton John's "Take Me to the Pilot"; Hollie Cavanagh and Jordin Sparks belted out "You'll Never Walk Alone"; Philip Phillips and John Fogerty from CCR teamed up together to sing some classics "Have You Ever Seen the Rain" and "Bad Moon Rising"; Jessica Sanchez and Jennifer Holliday sang the "Dreamgirls" signature song "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going". The male finalists also did a tribute to Robin Gibb who passed away recently by paying homage to the Bee Gee classics "How Deep is Your Love", "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart" and "To Love Somebody".

To be a judge on Idol, you get some serious exposure. Not only the fact that you're on an insanely popular television reality show competition, but because you can also use it as a platform for your music. Case in point...Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler. My girl Jennifer Lopez strutted her stuff and performed "Goin' In" with Lil Jon and Flo Ride and "Follow the Leader" with the Puerto Rican duo Wisin & Yandel. Too bad those baggy bottoms didn't come off, I was waiting to see a more revealing outfit, but as usual Jennifer Lopez just looks too damn good in everything...(love.that.woman). Steven Tyler also got up onstage to perform the new single "Legendary Child" and the classic "Walk This Way" with fellow Aerosmith members.

The best performances of the night for me were definitely Hollie Cavanagh and Jordin Sparks dueting on "You'll Never Walk Alone" and Jessica Sanchez and Jennifer Holliday singing their hearts out to "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going". All these women put their hearts and souls out to sing these songs and give it's credit due. They totally nailed the songs!

Being a sappy romantic, the highlight of the night was definitely the live wedding proposal from fifth season Idol finalist Ace Young to third season runner-up Diana Degarmo. He brought her up on-stage and confessed his love for her and their future together. It made me low-key emotional myself seeing this! Of course Diana accepted too! Both actually didn't meet on idol, but on Broadway when they worked on the Hair production together. This is a freakin gorgeous couple and I'm so happy for the both of them! And now I'm low-key obsessing about them!

As Phillip Phillips was announced the American Idol Season 11 winner, I wasn't necessarily surprised. I've been noticing with American Idol that the trends on the winners of each season have usually been males with a country/rock background! It takes me back to Taylor Hicks, Scotty McCreery, and now Phillip Phillips. Even though Jessica Sanchez didn't win, though she totally deserved to in regards to her amazing and soulful voice, her career is basically taken care of. There have been numerous American Idol contestants who didn't win the title, but have had even more successful careers than the actual winners! Remember Jennifer Hudson and Clay Aiken? Nonetheless, congratulations to PP! I'll definitely support you Miss Jessica Sanchez! And to the beloved American Idol, keep doin' your thang with these finales!

J-Lo Walks Into 'American Idol' Studios In Figure-Flattering Cream Suit; On CELEBRITY 100 At #1 !!

lopez idol night 02

Although this may possibly be Jennifer Lopez's (aka J-Lo or Jenny from the Block) last week on American Idol due to her coming world tour with Enrique Iglesias, she isn't going away anytime soon. She has accrued quite the COMEBACK career as she roared into American Idol and into the media and social media ranks, placing herself at #1 on Forbes's Celebrity 100 List!

Career aside, that's a nice cream-colored suit she wore with those strapped, gold-platform heels. Rock 'em out, J-LO!!

(Excerpt from Fashion Bomb Daily) Jennifer Lopez's Stunner Black Ensemble on 'American Idol'

I've got to say that this is one great look on J-Lo. It's very versatile and can be easily played into warm weather, a day off, a sensual/business casual look (even though I said Business, it probably isn't what you should wear to work, ladies), or an event (upscale).

Here's how Fashion Bomb Daily, one of my fav fashion websites, describes Jennifer Lopez's look:

NICOLE SCHERZINGER DOESN'T MAN UP ON X FACTOR

What do we know about Nicole Scherzinger? As the sultry songstress and dancer from The Pussycat Dolls right? So far in regards to music, she hasn't been in the scene as much. Her "break" consists of winning the mirrorball trophy on Dancing with the Stars and now she's a judge on X Factor. But it seems after last night, she might be saying bye bye to the show...

Here's my rant: Nicole should've been an adult and fulfilled her role as a judge AND that is to correctly judge who should still stay in the competition. There's a reason why judges get to pick who stay and who goes, because those are the rules for X Factor. But she couldn't MAN UP and choose Rachel Crowe because she didn't want to be the reason why any of them went home. So she leaves it up to America, and we all know how America tends to usually get it wrong on reality competition shows. And there we have it: Rachel Crowe, the deserving candidate leaves. Now who feels like the dumb one? Nicole of course! Because though she didn't want to send someone home, she ended up doing so, and it was the person who didn't deserve it.

Yes people say, "who cares, we'll be hearing from Rachel Crowe, no worries..." Well that's never a guarantee is it? I mean look at Tamyra Gray from Season 1 of American Idol. She had an amazing voice and wasn't even in the finals. The big star we saw in her isn't close to what she is today, no offense, but it's true. Then there's Jennifer Hudson, also an American Idol contestant who was booted off way earlier than Tamyra. If it wasn't for her breakout role on Dreamgirls, Jennifer Hudson wouldn't have reached the stardom in movies and music that she is now experiencing today.

Even though Rachel Crowe got eliminated, I also think this 13 year old was too young and not exposed enough to criticisms that one faces on a reality competition show. I have never seen someone sob and drop to the ground when they have been sent home. The scene was so heartbreaking it makes you wonder if they should raise the age limit on talent shows because maybe these kids still have some growing up to do.

Another thing I don't like about X Factor is that there are 4 judges! I mean there's a reason why there's an odd number of judges because there's no DEADLOCK. As much as it sucks to send someone home, it's going to have to be done because that's how the world goes round. After seeing the audiences' reaction to Nicole with the loud boo's and the negativity surround Nicole via Twitter, I wouldn't be surprised if X Factor makes the # of judges odd or that Nicole is fired next season. I guess we just have to stay tuned...

JENNIFER LOPEZ AND MARC ANTHONY DIVORCING!

YES YES YES, TOTAL SHOCKER INDEED!!! Despite their failed marriages [Anthony on his 2nd, and Lopez on her 3rd], they both seemed like they were meant for one another. Not only did they share a Puerto Rican background, but both just complimented each other well. A joint statement to People said, "We have decided to end our marriage. This was a very difficult decision. We have come to amicable conclusion on all matters."

But was this marriage headed for an unhappy ending just like their previous relationships? I mean Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez wed literally a few days after his divorce with ex-wife Dayanara Torres whom he had children with. And I shouldn't go into full detail on JLO's love life. She's in and out of relationships too much making it seem like she falls in love too easily.

Celebrity relationships are bound to fail from the start because being constantly scrutinized in the public eye tends to destroy almost every relationship since things get blown out of proportion all the time and false stories make front pages. Now let's take a famous singer like Marc Anthony and put megastar JLO in the mix. Yes they do have a similar foundation, but Jennifer Lopez LOVES the spotlight. I'm not calling her an attention seeker, but the spotlight loves her too. She's the face for many beauty ads, and she is a judge on the biggest show in television American Idol.

Now that she's decided to return for another season, might have been some sort of cause to their marriage troubles. Being in the public spotlight in regards to a highly watched primetime show takes up a lot of time and energy. And let me state the obvious, Jennifer Lopez is a much better looker to her soon-to-be ex-husband. Though their split is very heartbreaking, it makes it worse when there are kids involved, their fraternal twins Max and Emme who are only three years old. We know that Jennifer Lopez has always wanted children and to finally be a mother is a big part of her life. Hopefully a good arrangement can be settled.

Jennifer Lopez, named the year's "Most Beautiful Woman" by People, is as stunning as she was when she first came into the Hollywood scene...I would say even better looking! But with all these failed relationships when it comes to marriage, it seems to me that either she's not willing to work through the tough times in a marriage or that's just not who she is or even what she should be doing. If this was my third failed marriage, yes I would be heartbroken again, but maybe marriage isn't something I would find myself doing again and again. Is it JLO's fault, I don't know but maybe she can consider tapping into the Hollywood trend of basically "being married" without the official piece of paper. Whatever comes out of this, I hope that they still remain in amiable terms and make it work for their children.
