JENNIFER LOPEZ AND AMERICAN IDOL PART WAYS

Now one day after fellow judge Steven Tyler announced that him and American Idol are parting ways, Jennifer Lopez is now following suit. Both her and Steven joined the judges panel for seasons 10 and 11 of the talent competition which brought a much needed makeover to the show. This past season 11 had the lowest viewer ratings in American Idol history.

"Something had to give, something has to give. I was really dreading this phone call with you. I honestly feel the time has come that I have to get back to doing the other things that you do, and you have to pay attention to that, too. I could keep doing Idol for the rest of my life, but that would be giving up a bunch of other things. I feel like we had an amazing run. No matter what you guys need over there, I'm always going to be here. I feel there's that tie there. I just can't be there every day like I was for the last two years. It's just one of those special things in your life you don't want to walk away from," she added tearfully."

American Idol has definitely catapulted Jennifer Lopez into a super mega-star! Not only has she been on top of the charts again, but where do you not see all these Jennifer Lopez endorsements? She's seriously in like everything! I feel that through the show, Jennifer Lopez has definitely humanized the celebrity we usually refer to as JLo. She sympathized a lot with the contestants. Since she's not going to be a judge anymore, she said how open she was to being a mentor for one of the weeks while working with the contestants on the show. I know she would be a great fit!

Now for the future of American Idol, where will it head to now? Technically, Randy Jackson is the only judge left, let alone the original! I feel for American Idol to continue competing with other talent competitions, they need to start on a clean slate. Yes I said it, bring 3 new judges to the table! Stay tuned!

Steven Tyler Leaves American Idol

Now that the 11th season of American Idol is under wraps, Steven Tyler has decided to leave American Idol after being a judge for two seasons with Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez.

"After some long ... hard ... thoughts ... I’ve decided it’s time for me to let go of my mistress ‘American Idol’ before she boils my rabbit. I strayed from my first love, AEROSMITH, and I’m back – but instead of begging on my hands and knees, I’ve got two fists in the air and I’m kicking the door open with my band. The next few years are going to be dedicated to kicking some serious ass – the ultimate in auditory takeover. On Nov. 6, we are unleashing our new album, Music from Another Dimension on the Earth, Moon, Mars, and way beyond the stars. IDOL was over-the-top fun, and I loved every minute of it ... Now it’s time to bring Rock Back. ERMAHGERD.”

Simon Fuller, co-creator and executive producer of American Idol commented, "I completely understand his desire to get back to his life as the singer in America's greatest-ever rock band. AMERICAN IDOL will miss him!”

I am glad to hear that Aerosmith is getting back together. Though I loved the 10th season of American Idol when Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler joined Randy Jackson as the judges, I felt Steven Tyler didn't really fit in. Yes, he is a veteran in the music industry, but I felt a lot of his critique was useless. Not to mention, his comments, especially to the females were a bit controversial and risque. There were quite a few times where I'd be like "Omg, did he just say that to that minor?! With her parents, even dad right there?!" Best of luck to Aerosmith though, I can't wait to hear their new stuff. Special shout out to Joe Perry ;)

BATTLE OF THE SINGING COMPETITIONS::AMERICAN IDOL VS. THE VOICE

Of course this was inevitable, two singing competitions on different networks, both reality, yet very different...While American Idol is on it's tenth season with FOX, The Voice is on it's first season on NBC and is getting rave reviews.

Musician and judge Adam Levine was the first to throw a low blow saying, "The people that we're not turning our chairs around for could win American Idol."

The 'dawg' Randy Jackson quickly responded firing back, "It's a great thing when talent can be simple, honest and revered as opposed to spinning around with gimmicky chairs. Maybe Simon Cowell should have people opening doors. Like, 'Knock, knock; Who's singing? I can't see you!'Look, none of these other shows could exist without somebody forging the path before them. I'm happy to say that Idol did that and paved the way."

So which one do you like better? I honestly prefer American Idol over The Voice because it's a pretty simple competition that can be molded into so many different challenges. The talent on American Idol is way better than The Voice, hands down. The only thing great about that show is seeing Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.

With X Factor about to make it's American debut soon, what is the future for reality singing competitions? Randy Jackson comments, "My only fear is that with all these shows coming is that people don't tire of the format. I don't know how much singing at you the public can take." True that dawg! You can't have so many of the same kinds of shows that have the same foundation, because in actuality it's a SINGING SHOW! There seriously needs to be more ideas for reality shows out there.

New Season of American Idol

The new season of American Idol kicked out today on Fox at 8pm and sure did I tune in. I haven't been excited for American Idol this much since the first season! Like all reality shows, the hype builds and then dies down with each consecutive season. Sure we were used to Simon's crass remarks, Paula's supportive nature, and Randy's 'Dawg' statements, we don't know how much further the show would progress alongside it's contestants.
But this season certainly caught my attention! With rumors circulating about Simon leaving the Idol cast and Paula also leaving, starting her own reality dance show, the future of this show did not look break. Then the search started for the new judges who would fill the seat of Simon and Paula. Rumors were circulating about potential judges but no one was sure.
When the new judges were announced: Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez, this drew great media attention. Many questioned Steven Tyler's credibility. Though he is the frontman for legendary rock group Aerosmith, he was just a rocker. Did he know anything about music and judging a competition? Then there was Jennifer Lopez, who is said to be such a "diva." Criticized for her unrealistic talent in the music business about having no real voice, questions also arised to her credibility. Yes she is successful and beautiful, but does she know anything about singing?
Despite all the controversy these new judges may bring, I'm excited because I love JENNIFER LOPEZ and AEROSMITH is one of my favorite groups! Tuning into the first episode tonight, I can already see that Steven Tyler plays the role as the crazy harsh judge=he either likes you or he doesn't; Jennifer Lopez plays the mentor who gives supportive criticism if there is any; and Randy Jackson seems like he takes more of a backseat to the crazy personalities of the other judges-he says what he thinks and that's basically it. I mean it's just the first episode, but when multiple judges are involved, each has to bring their own style to the table. HERE'S TO THE NEW SEASON OF AMERICAN IDOL, LOOKS AMAZING!
