B.E.T.'s 2012 'Rip The Runway' Tonight!! (UPDATE; Includes REVIEW and Grade Of Show)

Selita Ebanks Hosts Pooch Hall and Selita Ebanks onstage during BET's Rip the Runway 2012 at Hammerstein Ballroom on February 29, 2012 in New York City.

(Scroll down for complete review and grade of BET's 'Rip The Runway')

B.E.T.'s 'Rip The Runway' is a relatively young show that has really taken FASHION to another level by bringing it to the national airwaves (hence other competitors like NBC's 'Fashion Star'). The hosts for this year is Pooch Hall ('Derwin' from 'The Game') and supermodel Selita Ebanks.

If you know me, then you MUST know I'm all eyes and ears on this show. Guests are out-of-this-world fashion designers, as well as performers like Diggy Simmons and Jeremih, Estelle, Lil' Kim, Wale, and more.

Update of 'Rip The Runway' 3/21/2012:

Rip The Runway was a very exciting show to behold, with performers in the midst of models strutting down the runway. Lots of Louboutins and Steve Maddens were spotted on the runway. Female models had OH SO MUCH beauty (mmm...) and the curvy girls who wore COLOR-BLOCKING clothes truly represented; a high point of the night. The male models, looking like straight out of a Sean John and GQ spread, carried tons of SWAGGER.

LaQuan Smith and the debut of Sass by Selita was also a high point.

On the downside, the show didn't deliver as much BANG as I thought it would. The decor, the background, the runway design, the hype crowd WON me over. The distraction was the performers all up on the runway with the models; I think the runway should be LEFT for the models while the performers do their shot 'off-center' like Robin Thicke did. Another distraction was I was hoping that the performers/models wouldn't bump into each other.

'Rip The Runway' celebrated urban designers but it seemed to be missing something; I'm honestly not exactly sure what it was. Was it that the program was too short (I didn't want it to end)? Was it the hosts (I thought Selita and Pooch were GREAT, but I would've preferred a little more behind-the-scenes interaction)? Was it that Angela Simmons was the only celeb to do a makeover on ONE girl (I wanted more makeovers for more girls)?

I shouldn't have to feel like I enjoyed NBC's 'Fashion Star' more than BET's 'Rip The Runway'.

You decide for yourself. The grade I give: B-

BET AWARDS 2011 GREEN CARPET

Last night were the BET Awards 2011. Now that June gloom looks like it's coming to an end, the green carpet was full of brighter colors to commemorate summer and the beautiful Southern Cali weather.

ASHANTI: wore a fitted turquoise Jean Fare gown that a bit too formal for the BET Awards show. Where is the rockin' short fits we're so used to seeing her in? It's summer and it will be appropriate for this occasion!

KELLY ROWLAND: is so hot right now! She sizzled in a hot pink ruffled Notte by Marchesa [a dress worn by Ashanti before-uh oh]. Though this is a fashion mishap, she looks so stunning and bubbly in this outfit.

MARY J. BLIGE: shows off her amazing body in an off-white Herve Leger dress with cutouts. How she has a rockin' body to this day may always be a mystery, but I commend her for it.

MICHELLE WILLIAMS: rocked an indigo dress that looked perfect on her body type and skin tone. The Destiny's Child crew is definitely showing out!!!

NICKI MINAJ: though beautiful, wore a questionable fitted mauve dress with ruffles on sleeves and hem along with gray tights. Enough said.

LALA: shined in a glittery long sleeved Tom Ford dress. The look blended perfectly together with her hair tied back.

MEAGAN GOOD: she looked tacky in this black prom-type dress. You're beautiful, you could've should've brought it wayyy better on the red carpet. The fabric looks so heavy and out of all colors, it's black! Come on it's summer girl!

ESTELLE: looked demure in a one-shouldered dark gray dress with embroidery. But the color looks too blah for this type of awards show.

KERI HILSON: tried something different in a purple strapless bodice with black harem pants paired with green pendants and chunky jewelry. At looked cute, but most of all comfortable.

ALICIA KEYS: looked great in a black jumpsuit with white blazer. The black and white pumps along with red lipstick and side braid fit well together.

EVE: she's bringing rock n' roll back in tight leather pants and zippered vest. Though I love the new look, this is a somewhat pushing it too far on the rock side.

KERRY WASHINGTON: looked absolutely stunning in a bright yellow Michael Kors Resort 2012 Collection floor length dress with high slit. She is the best dressed of the night! That color pops and the whole look is just perfect.

So what have we learned here...try and dress for the appropriate awards show and make the most out of this BEAUTIFUL SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA WEATHER ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S SUMMER!!!
