Kim Kardashian's 2nd Failed Marriage

On Halloween Day, Kim Kardashian filed for divorce after only being married for two months to Kris Humphries. HATE TO SAY I TOLD YOU SO?!

Not only am I mad about wasting four hours of my time watching the Kim Kardashian Wedding Special on E!, but I called it too. As I said quite a few times, Kim and Kris were not compatible from the get go. I get that opposites attract, but when so many viewers see how wrong a couple is for marriage, they're most likely right. So was everything staged on Keeping Up with the Kardashians? Or was Kim so desperate for marriage being that she's already 30, that she was forcing marriage too soon for an already lost cause.

Kim and Kris were on completely different planets. Okay, Kris you play ball but what else do you have going for you? Because of the NBA Lockout, you have no job at all. We know Kim is the obvious breadwinner in the relationship where Kris was living at her house in Los Angeles and who knows what else. Where did Kris get the money by the way to buy Kim that insanely big and expensive engagement ring and other stuff? Maybe that's why he wants to move back to Minnesota, to hide how broke he actually is after that short stint with Kim. Wouldn't he also know what he was getting himself into? Everyone knows Kim is high maintenance, except Kris it seems because he's a bit on the slow side from what I've seen.

Watching them on reality television was pretty unbearable seeing how they would argue most of the time basically, and were basically on different planets. Kris on the slow side was on Earth, while Kim was on the Moon. When thinking about how Kim filed for divorce on actual Halloween Day, it's crazy to think that the E! wedding special was broadcasted earlier in October. What is even more crazy is that since Kim technically had to pay hardly anything out of pocket for the wedding and the preparations, she got paid to get married and get divorced which makes people ponder if their two month long marriage was a farce. And this also affirms Kris' "slowness", he didn't know Kim was pondering getting a divorce. If we knew it was trouble from the start, how can Kris not? Maybe because his head was out of reality.

What also is pretty disappointing is the fact that Kim isn't fighting to make her marriage work. If she claims it's true love and she's hurt by the whole ordeal, then why not fight in the name of love? Sources also claim that it was a hard decision for her to decide on getting the divorce, which means she pondered a divorce basically right after she got married. With two short failed marriages under her belt, will Kim ever find love? Doesn't this make her even more desperate to get married and start a family. Since the shotgun wedding didn't work out in her favor, she can take the Kourtney route by having a baby out of wedlock. Maybe, she can keep a guy in that regards.

Let me ask you this: How many of you took time out of your day to watch the Kim and Kris Wedding Special on E! these past two days?! Let me rephrase, WHO SPENT 4 HOURS OF THEIR LIFE WATCHING THIS SPECIAL?! Is it sad to say that I DID!

On Sunday, that two-hour special was pretty pointless. It was supposed to highlight the time leading up to the wedding, but it went into all these different tangents such as Kris Jenner's obsessive compulsive disorder with her looks, and Rob Kardashian's junk food bingeing. First of all when a mom hears about her daughter's wedding news that is three months away, what mother automatically thinks 'OMG I NEED TO GET PLASTIC SURGERY DONE FOR MYSELF!' Kris looks great for her age, but to see her feel so self-conscious in her appearance before the surgery is very questionable. Also Rob already gets a bad rep as the "lazy Kardashian". It truly doesn't help to see him move again from Khloe's house to Kourtney's place (living off his sisters), to change his eating habits. Yes Rob, we notice you're not in the best shape and you prefer eating junk food, another fail on your part.

What was really highlighted in this four hour special was HOW INCOMPATIBLE KIM AND KRIS ARE FOR EACH OTHER. Right when Kris ended his NBA season, he moved into Kim's beautiful house with his two dogs which he let sleep in their bed! But the crazy thing too is that even before talk of the current NBA lockout, his contract with the New Jersey Nets ended, so he was and is currently jobless (as if we didn't know that Kim is too good for Kris, career and looks wise). Though the saying "opposites attract" is often used to describe couples, this is not a good type of opposite. Kim is the ultimate high maintenance queen who's a neat freak, while Kris comes from a small hometown and doesn't care about the glitz and glamour type life. And who doesn't know that Kim was married before? Well Kris didn't after dating her for a few months, he had to be told! (as if it wasn't clear you were a bit on the "slow side")

One thing the world who tunes into everything entertainment and "Kardashian" knows is that Kim was always the one wanting to get married, and once that opportunity came she took it. She's of course gorgeous and has managed to make a big business of herself and her family clan, but is rushing to the altar really the answer for true love? Like Khloe said, "she falls in love hard" and there's nothing wrong with that, but it was just bothering to see all their arguments played out for everyone to see. It's like the entire special was focused on that, with very rare good moments between the couple. It also didn't help that the Kardashian clan didn't really like Kris for his rudeness and I don't blame them. You can't automatically be comfortable with someone, especially the family of someone you're dating right away. You need to earn their trust first. But for Kris Hump that was another story, he is just plain rude and yes Kim, he "has a very different sense of humor" that no one gets and isn't funny.

I'm happy that Kim got her fairytale wedding that she always dreamed about since she was a little girl. She looked so gorgeous on her special day, wearing three Vera Wang dresses throughout the night; we all know the attention was on Kim. Though this special was called "Kim Kardashian's Fairytale Wedding", the actual wedding footage was barely the last 15 minutes of the 4 hour broadcast! Can someone say, "GOTCHA...AGAIN!" Nonetheless as much as this post may be negative, I hope that this union works out well for them because I'm a true believer of the sanctity of a marriage. Being an outsider looking in, we don't know how they are in reality but all we can judge by is what we see displayed on this "reality show".

IS REALITY TV MAKING US DUMBER?!

Everywhere you look, networks are showing reality television. Say so long to the news which was everyone's first taste of reality, and look for reality shows to get you in tuned with the biggest stories of the day.


Many would like to argue that MTV's The Real World which debuted in 1992 was the first of its kind featuring seven strangers picked to live in a house and have their lives taped. The concept was intriguing because there was no scripted dialogue, just viewers peering into the lives of people they don't know. The formula for this new take on reality helped paved the way for many reality shows to date. It seems that nowadays, reality shows are overtaking the sitcom shown on daily television because not only can it be more interesting with all the drama that is featured, but it's less costly to networks. Stars of reality shows are not professionals, so they don't need to be paid a professional salary per season, or a certain amount of money per episode until they really hit it big.

I admit, I am a person who loves watching reality shows and yes I do not watch any sitcoms at all...well maybe just one: Degrassi. If you know me, you would know that I watch four major networks: E!, Bravo, VH1, and MTV. So what if I watch all the seasons of The Real Housewives, Fantasy Factory, Teen Mom, or Basketball Wives?! Many would argue that the reason why I do enjoy watching these shows is because I want to live that lavish lifestyle, but I don't and there's really no explanation. I like what I like and that's it.

Sure sometimes when I catch myself glued to the television for a few hours to watch all the reality shows on different networks, I feel pretty dumb knowing I took time out of my day to catch every episode. That's why I started taking up reading again to make sure I get the right balance of television and mental stimulation. Of course there are educational programs featured on television, but I don't go looking for them if I'm not interested. I can't help being attracted to entertainment in all aspects, and I feel that blogging daily keeps the brain juices flowing as well.

So is reality television making us dumber as a human race? I don't think anything is wrong with watching it unless you factor it into your life. For instance, many people are obsessed with The Kardashians and the Jersey Shore cast. There should be a level of boundaries of liking reality TV and being obsessed about people who are just like you and me. One thing to keep in mind is that reality stars don't have special talents, because they aren't professionals. We, the viewers are the ones making these stars into celebrities, so it's all in our hands when you think about it.

Haven't you noticed that reality shows are repeating themselves too? Like how many singing/dancing competitions can you have? Or fashion styling/designing competitions? Or football/hip-hop/basketball wives? Or weightloss/extreme makeover? Or housewives/househusbands? Show creators keep creating these shows because they know the American public will feed into it. With an economy that's not so great right now leaving many unemployed, it's no wonder that reality shows are very popular among the masses because it not only paints a facade for how we want our lives to be like, but it gives us hope that we can escape our problems and succeed in life.

Simpson during his murder trial but died September 30,2003.  Her mother divorced Robert in 1989 and married former Olympian Bruce Jenner in 1991.Kim has two sisters,Kourtney and Khloe and one brother,Robert.  She also has stepbrothers Burton,Brandon and Brody Jenner.
