Julia Louis-Dreyfus

Julia Scarlett Louis-Dreyfus was born on January 16th 1961 in Manhattan, New York.  She is an American actress best known for her role in Seinfeld as Elaine Benes.  One of my favorite female actresses of all time.
She was seen performing with Chicago's well known improvisational theater groups,  The Practical Theater Group and the renowned Second City.  It was then at one of her performances the former's "Golden 50th Anniversary Jubilee" that led to her being asked to join the cast of Saturday Night Live at the age of 21.
She was on Saturday Night Live for a few years from 1982 to 1985.  At the time Julia and cast member Abby Eliot were the youngest female cast members in history to be on Saturday Night Live.
She met up with writer Larry David during her career at SNL who would later co-create Seinfeld.  Recently Julia commented that her casting on SNL was a "Cinderella getting to go to the ball kind of experience".  She also admitted that at times it was often quite tense, stating that she "didn't know how to navigate the waters of show business in general and specifically doing a live sketch comedy show."
She appeared in almost all the episodes of Seinfeld excluding three of them.
Her father Gérard Louis-Dreyfus(also known as William Louis-Dreyfus), is a French attorney and business executive.  Her parents divorced one year after the birth of Julia.  Her mother Judith was a writer and special needs tutor.  Julia's paternal grandfather was Pierre Louis-Dreyfus (1908-2011).  He was a French Jew who fought in the French Resistance during World War II.  Both her paternal grandmother and her mother were American.
When Julia was eight years old they relocated to Washington D.C. and her mother married L. Thompson Bowles, Dean of the George Washington University Medical School.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus has two half-sisters on her father's side, Emma and Phoebe.  Through her father, a billionaire heir to the Louis Dreyfus Group, she had a cousin Robert Louis-Dreyfus (1946-2009), former CEO of Adidas and the owner of the Olympique de Marseille football/soccer team.  Her half sister Lauren Bowles is also an actress, appearing with her on Seinfeld, and The New Adventures of Old Christine.  Lauren was also in Veronica Mars and in the film Ghost World.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus spent her childhood in several states and countries in connection with her stepfather's work with Project HOPE, including Sri Lanka, Colombia and Tunisia.  She graduated from the Holton-Arms School in Bethesda, MD in 1979 and attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois where she studied theatre for several years before dropping out due to a professional acting job offer.
In 2007 she was invited back to Northwestern to receive an honorary Doctor of Arts degree.
Julia met her husband Brad Hall while she was at Northwestern and they married in 1987.  Brad Hall is a comedian and was on SNL as well.  They have two children together Henry born in 1992 and Charles born in 1997.
Julia stated once that she holds much respect for "women who are not afraid of making themselves look bad or foolish to get a laugh" and cites her acting idols as Lucille Ball,Mary Tyler Moore,Madeline Kahn, Teri Garr, Valerie Harper and Cloris Leachman.
I thought she was great in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation and Curb Your Enthusiasm!  I guess more recently she's on the HBO show Veep.  Which I've had yet to see.

The Art Of The Sublime In Rihanna's 'Where Have You Been' Music Video And Comparison To Beyonce's 'Run The World (Girls)'

Well, after waiting and waiting, Rihanna's 'Where Have You Been' music video has dropped. It has been anticipated to be somewhat tribal.. and TRIBAL was all up and through this video. I also couldn't help that the ambiance of the dance number resembled Beyonce's 'Run The World (Girls)', but nevertheless, these videos are in their own zone.

Rihanna adds her flavor by emerging from the water in ink-black hair, perfectly aiming for the camera, as if she's an otherworldly, Stargate-inspired girl looking and hunting for her 'love'. The other cultural looks brings about an international vibe, suggesting that the video can be related to every nationality. Beyonce's 'Run The World' is in a class by itself; it's almost as if no other copied version can ever top Beyonce's dance-in-the-sand routine. Rihanna comes pretty close, though.

Forming the EYE.... uhhh... several times that happened in the video. Colors and dance routines were good; I especially could see one of these looks being produced by Vivienne Westwood or any designer with a crazy flair of cultural style.

What's your take on it?

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian Together, Wearing Leather Jeans

Wow, could this be the new supercouple? And Kim moves on rather quickly, doesn't she? Anyway, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian were spotted stepping out of Kanye's silver Maybach, wearing different variations of LEATHER JEANS!

Uhh.. leather jeans for guys? Only Kanye. Now they do look like wax jeans, but I looked closer at the material and it's actually sueded and faded leather. He paired this with a blue-green velvet blazer and tan Timberlands. Not really feeling the tan ones, black would probably be better. But then again, hey... it's Kanye.

Awkward pic of Kanye... Kim looks great in white blouse/blazer, leather pants, and Christian Louboutin Un Boot Heels.

I saw Terrence J in person at this lounge in Novi, MI the other day. He was promoting 'Think Like A Man'.

'People' Magazine Declares BEYONCE Most Beautiful Woman In The World for 2012!

BEY-stans and BEY-lovers all over the world, Beyonce has been named 'Most Beautiful Woman In The World' by People Magazine. It is truly an honor to hold that title, oddly more than any other prestigious magazine like VOGUE, ELLE, HARPER's BAZAAR, and more (because PEOPLE is just a celebrity/pop culture magazine compared to a tabloid). Beyonce definitely deserves it, what with her recent birth of Blue Ivy Carter and gaining back her curves.

I'm very sure women everywhere would KILL to grace the cover of this fast-selling, wildly-popular magazine. Congrats, Bey!

Rihanna At TIME 100 GALA For 100 Most Influential; Homegirl is STUNNIN'!!!!

Check out Rihanna as she attended the Time 100 Gala. She has been dressing a little rock-ish, grungy, and '80s for a while, but when it's time to glam up, she does it exceedingly well.

The pink gown, the black, sexy, and glossy hair, the perfect makeup... *PLEASANTLY OVERWHELMED*

Khloe Kardashian's Mini Lace Dress and Bright Jimmy Choo SIX-INCHERS!

Man, I wonder how tall Khloe must have been with those SIX-INCH Jimmy Choos she was wearing! But anyway, Khloe looked great in her mini lace dress, a decent leather jacket to accentuate and base out the sensuality of the lace material, and those Jimmy Choo Letita heels. The hair is okay (specifically the top part), but not bad either.

She was at Scott Disick's RYU grand-opening with Lamar Odom.

Jada Pinkett Smith and Willow Smith In Santa Monica; Willow Now Has Purple-Pink Hair!

Willow Smith attended an event with her mother, Jada, as they attended a premiere at Sundance, 'First Positions'. Jada was looking every bit beautiful with her white combo, tan clutch, and Christian Louboutin Lady Max heels.

Willow now sports PURPLE-PINK HAIR with it shaven on the sides. Shec ontinues her ROCKER look; looks like she's coming into her own, since she was appearing Rihanna'esque last year.

Roald Dahl

Roald Dahl was born in born in Whales. September 13th 1916 to November 23rd 1990. British novelist, short story writer, poet, fighter pilot and screenwriter. I grew up reading his famous kids books which were introduced to me by my 3rd grade teacher. I believe her name was Mrs. Klarich? Anyways, I got lost in his books. Recently I read this in the newspaper(and yes, to answer your question. Some people do still read the newspaper... Just not usually me). It stated "You know Roald Dahl for his kids' books, especially "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," starring Willy Wonka.
You may not know that during World War II, Dahl worked as a British spy in Washington, D.C. Part of the job seemed to involve sleeping with Georgetown's wealthiest women, including, apparently, Clare Booth Luce. He also drummed up pro-British and anti-Nazi propaganda to battle elements of the American public that were against U.S. entry into World War II." I myself, did not know this about him. Roald's parents Harald Dahl and Sofie Magdalene Dahl (née Hesselberg)were both Norwegian . His father had moved from Sarpsborg in Norway and was said to have settled in Cardiff in the 1880's. As lovers do, his mother came over to marry his father in 1911. Roald Dahl was named after the polar explorer Roald Amundsen, a national hero in Norway at the time.
He spoke Norwegian at home along with his sisters Astri, Alfhild and Else. Roald and his sisters were christened at the Norwegian Church, Cardiff. After the War Roald married American actress Patricia Neal on July 2nd 1953 at Trinity Church in New York City. Roald and Patricia's marriage lasted for over 30 years and had 5 children during that time. Including Olivia,Tessa, Theo, Ophelia and Lucy. On December 5th 1960 something tragic happened. Their 4 month old Theo Dahl was severely injured when his baby carriage was struck by a taxicab in New York City.
For awhile he suffered from hydrecephalus and as a result Roald became involved in the development of what became known as the "Wade-Dahl-Till" (or WDT) valve, a device to alleviate the condition. Then in November 1962 Olivia Dahl died of measles encephalitis at the early age of 7. Roald Dahl subsequently became a proponent of immunisation and dedicated his 1982 book The BFG to his daughter. He must have had a rough time when later his wife Patricia suffered three burst cerebral aneurysms while pregnant with their 5th child Lucy. Roald took care of her rehabilitation and she eventually re-learned to talk and walk. She even returned to her acting career.
He ended up divorcing Patricia Neal though in 1983 and married Liccy Crosland. Rumor has it they had been previously in a relationship before the divorce from Neal? 1983 quote from Roald Dahl "There's a trait in the Jewish character that does provoke animosity ... I mean there is always a reason why anti-anything crops up anywhere; even a stinker like Hitler didn't just pick on them for no reason." Roald states that he was anti-Israel rather than anti-Semitic and he maintained friendships with a number of Jews including philosopher Isaiah Berlin who said "I thought he might say anything. Could have been pro-Arab or pro-Jew. There was no consistent line." In the 1986 New Years Honours List Roald Dahl was offered the Order of the British Empire (OBE) but turned it down.
He also is the father of author Tessa Dahl and grandfather of author, cookbook writer and former model Sophie Dahl as in Sophie in "The BFG".
James and the Giant Peach was one of the first books I've ever reak and it really opened up my imagination. Did you know that he wrote The Gremlins? Probably not the Gremlins your thinking of though. I also liked The Witches.

GIULIANA AND BILL ARE EXPECTING THEIR FIRST BABY!!!

So when I seriously heard this news today, I was beyond ecstatic. First off, I look up to Giuliana as a role model AS the type of woman I want to be career wise from what I see through various media outlets. She's a very strong, independent woman who can not only give great interviews, but intimately connects with every single person she talks to.

I was truly inspired by Giuliana when I saw her episode of E!'s True Hollywood Story. Not only did it show her growth and hard work to get to where she's at in her career, but the struggles she's faced in regards to health and having a family of her own. I kind of followed the story of Giuliana and her husband Bill Rancic when I used to have the Style network, but hearing more about it in depth through her THS, I was definitely rooting for them. Guiliana has definitely been through a lot lately in regards to her health, which included being diagnosed with breast cancer last year and undergoing a successful double mastectomy.

Today, both Guiliana and Bill confirmed that they are expecting their first child late summer via a gestational surrogate, genetically Rancic's child. "We are so thrilled that our prayers have been answered. We are absolutely ecstatic to be sharing this with everyone who has been following our journey. We received an incredible amount of love and prayers from viewers around the world and we want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of them for their love."

The couple was on the Today show earlier in an interview with Ann Curry. Though they already know the sex of the child, they are seeing how long they can keep it a secret for. What’s great about Bill and Giuliana is that they are true advocates for their struggles and want to spread the word as well as provide support to those undergoing breast cancer and infertility. Despite all the hardships they have had to endure, both have remained positive which is not only inspiring, but heartfelt. Congratulations to the beautiful couple! Solange Knowles At Splendid Store Grand Opening; Channels Tracee Ellis Ross In Her Look-- HOTT!

Check out Solange Knowles stepping away from her usual cultural look to attend Splendid Soho grand opening. She wore the store's own blouse, a Maki Oh high split skirt, a Lie Sang Bong turquoise clutch, and clear/black captoe Louboutin 'Illusion' for $795.

I thought this was a hott look; she was especially, and I'm sure not intentionally, channeling Tracee Ellis Ross, known for this type of sophisicated style and HAIR.

CHESTER FRENCH'S BLACK GIRLS

So a few days ago, Chester French came out with his new single "Black Girls" which of course raised a few eyebrows. I don't think it's the fact that the actual song is referencing his taste in black girls, but once I saw the video, I can see why it's a bit on the controversial side. See for yourself!

Video Powered by ClipCartel.com

Just in case you were too distracted to listen to the words, here are the lyrics:

Black Girls

This ain't no fetish, ain't objectifying no one
I reject your deconstruction of my taste
But ignoramus always look in my direction
They're so frustrated I don't keep it in the race
Like they've never seen this before
Like it's 1954
But the whole world's turning brown and who cares

[Hook]
I've got a thing for black girls
La, la la la la, la la, la la la la la
Yeah, my mom says
I've got a thing for black girls
La, la la la la, la la, la la la la la
You know I got some love for black girls
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Well I have tried to taste the rainbow in my life
I've sampled many different flavors I enjoy
It's not to say I wouldn't settle down with Sally
Dilly dally with her heart like it's my toy
I've been to England a few times
And it's common over there
Plus the whole world's turning brown and who cares

[Hook x2]
(I'm ? so what)
(And I need to know, where's all the love for black girls)
(No the girl don't need no tan)
(I keep on ballin' hard for black girls)

I mean from Chester French's previous songs, I could tell he had some type of flavor. I give him props for admitting his love to black girls, especially for being a white boy. All I can ask now is, what about some love for the mixed chicks? Especially a Mexican-Filipina aka MEXIPINAS?!

Kanye West In Qatar (HOT city) in Custom 'Unknown' Denim Jacket

Kanye West was in Qatar for filming for a short film, and he was wearing light colors (the shirt could be a little shorter), a good choice since Qatar is a hot city, and judging by the pic where Kanye is, it looks hot and muggy. So Kanye was wearing these YMC snakeskin shoes for $250, but the real focus is on his custom jacket, which I thought was really cool.

The jacket is probably a Levi's (on an inexpensive scale) or a Balmain (on an expensive scale) with cutouts and embroidery... it's just wayyyy cool.

RIHANNA In A Conservative Vintage Dress... Until The Bottom Of The Dress Opens Up!

now I knew that, knowing Rihanna, she wasn't going to wear her vintage white dress AS-IS. As she came out of a restaurant, her dressed opened up at the bottom, revealing stockings in a stirrups design. What's unique about the stockings is that it's not actual stirrups; if you look closely, it's DRAWN-ON.

The complementary 'red' in the stirrups matched Rihanna's Louboutins quite well.
