REST IN PEACE STEVE JOBS

So at work today I get this news on how the co-founder of Apple Inc., Steve Jobs, passed away today at the age of 56 due to a rare form of pancreatic cancer. To hear this news, made me pretty sad for some reason. I wasn't one who gave in to the Apply Hype that came along with this current generation. Instead of an iPod, I got a Zune, instead of a Mac I got an Acer. But last year, things changed when I purchased my own MacBook Pro and I LOVE IT! I also want the latest iPod Nano, it helps when you have iTune on your computer because you can put the latest songs on the MP3 player. I'm so lazy to constantly charge my Zune and re-download songs to put on it, so I just listen to whatever songs are on there, which aren't exactly current. I'm also a big fan of the iPhone 4...camera that is. It's so good, unlike my BlackBerry. My dad is even talking about getting me an iPad for Christmas. I feel like this current generation of people have no choice but to get some type of Apple product.

Steve Jobs had a gift of knowing what others wanted before they even did. Hence creating Macintosh, reinventing the MP3 with the iPod, launched the first legal music online store with iTunes, caused fan uproar in the cellphone market with the iPhone, and started the electronic tablet market with the iPad.

Being a 21 year old college dropout from Reed College, he helped lead Apple into a multimillion dollar company. Leaving the company at the age of 30, he started a computer technology firm called Next that helped create the World Wide Web. He also took over computer animation company Pixar for a little bit that helped produce such big hits as "Toy Story" and "Finding Nemo". He then returned back to Apple while in his 40s.

Diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2004, he took a medical leave of absence from Apple 2008, then received a liver transplant in 2009. On August 24 of this year, he resigned as Apple CEO and became chairman of board. Though everyone knew his health wasn't in a good place, no one expected Steve Jobs to pass away so soon. Maybe he knew that his life would not go on that much longer which explains his resignation as CEO but one thing for certain is that he was such a great innovator. He strongly believed in working for what you love and to keep searching until you find that one love. Creating all these great things wasn't a job to him, because he truly believed in his work and loved it to the fullest. It is clear through all these FB statuses that Steve Jobs was such an inspiration to all. Rest in peace...

Well, what does Steve Jobs have to do with fashion?

Well... an awful lot. Even if Steve was not directly related to fashion, he was an invaluable catalyst that placed the world of fashion right at millions of people's fingertips. Think deep about HOW MUCH you can do with your smart phone. Devices such as the iPod, MacBook, iPad have spawned several similar products that the world cannot get enough of. My prayers and condolences go out to Steve and his family.

Apple founder, former Pixar chief and Disney Board of Directors member Steve Jobs passed away on Wednesday, with Disney CEO Bob Iger releasing a statement soon after his passing:

Steve Jobs was a great friend as well as a trusted advisor. His legacy will extend far beyond the products he created or the businesses he built. It will be the millions of people he inspired, the lives he changed, and the culture he defined. Steve was such an “original,” with a thoroughly creative, imaginative mind that defined an era. Despite all he accomplished, it feels like he was just getting started. With his passing the world has lost a rare original, Disney has lost a member of our family, and I have lost a great friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Laurene and his children during this difficult time.

Jobs' affiliation with Disney comes from his remarkable stewardship of Pixar. In 1986, Jobs bought The Graphics Group, the computer graphics division of Lucasfilm that was spun off on its own. He soon changed the company's course from hardware producer to animation studio, setting the newly renamed Pixar on course to remake animation history. He was the CEO from the beginning of his run there, and the Chairman of the Board starting in 1991, as well.
After running through a number of short films throughout the 80s and early 90s, the studio released its first game changing animated feature, "Toy Story." Gorgeously computer animated, it was a runaway hit, spawning not only a franchise -- it's up to three features and multiple short spinoffs -- but an animation empire that has won Oscar after Oscar. Now, nearly every successful animated film utilizes computer graphics, with blockbusters such as the "Shrek" series following in Pixar's foot steps.
In fact, 14 out of the top 15 animated films, in terms of domestic box office earnings, are CGI-based.
Disney bought Pixar outright in 2006, making Jobs a member of the Board of Directors and the company's largest single shareholder.
"As we approached the end of our relationship with Disney and we looked at our future, we were at a fork in the road," he said when Disney bought the innovative studio. "Disney is the only company with animation in their DNA."

Director Steven Spielberg added a statement about the passing, saying, "Steve Jobs was the greatest inventor since Thomas Edison. He put the world at our fingertips."

Terrible news this evening, Steve Paul Jobs passed away at the age of 56 on this date October 5th 2011.  He was born on February 24th 1955.   Chairman,co-founder and former chief executive officer for Apple Inc.  Entrepreneur and inventor.  He also served as chief executive for Pixar Animation Studios.  Steve became a member of the board of directors with The Walt Disney Company in 2006.  He is credited executive producer for the animated Toy Story which was a huge hit coming out in 1995.

My favorite quote of Steve's is "Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work.  And the only way to do great work is to love what you do."
