Selena Gomez is at the top of her game! Starting out as a Disney breakout star in Wizards of Waverly Place, she has a blossoming music and acting career. Not to mention romancing another megastar Mr. Justin Beiber.

Being only 18 years old, her fame gets bigger with each passing moment. But what may seem like the perfect life, was once not so perfect...

Selena finally opens up about her humble beginnings growing up with a single parent, her mom. Selena recalls, "I remember my mom would run out of gas all of the time and we’d sit there and have to go through the car and get quarters and help her get gas because she never liked to ask my grandparents for money. I remember having a lot of macaroni and cheese but my mom never made it seem like it was a big deal. She was really strong around me. Having me at 16 had to have been a big responsibility. My mom gave up everything for me, had three jobs, supported me sacrificed her life for me."

Her mom adds, "Yeah, we might have run out of gas – we did have to walk to the dollar store to get dollar spaghetti and make it … so we always had food but if I knew she wanted to go to a concert I would save up for it. You do the best you can with what you’re given."

That seems like some difficult early years, but we're glad to see all that sacrificing has worked out for the best. No more struggling to get through each day, worrying about gas or food. That's brave of Selena to open up so early about the sacrifices her mom made, and her humble beginnings.

DEMI LOVATO SAYS "SO LONG DISNEY!!!"

Recently, Demi Lovato, the sweet pea from Disney has been in a lot of negative press. Who knew that she was going through a mental breakdown and had to enter rehab (for physical and emotional issues) at such an early age? I guess the enigma of fame was too much for her, along with the heartbreaking split from ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas.

It is official that Demi is quitting her hit show Sonny With A Chance on Disney to pursue her music career. "It made sense for me to go ahead and leave the show to focus on my music. It's kind of sad for me that a chapter of my life has ended but there couldn't be a better time for me to move on. I don't think going back to Sonny would be healthy for my recovery. Being in front of a camera would make me nervous," she says.

Being now out of rehab, Demi Lovato is ready to put herself out there again and spread awareness on body image issues many teens especially girls are going through. "I developed an eating disorder, and that's kind of what I've been dealing with ever since. I was compulsively overeating when I was eight years old. So, I guess, for the past 10 years I've had a really unhealthy relationship with food."

She is also not afraid to admit to cutting herself. "It was a way of expressing my own shame, of myself, on my own body. I was matching the inside to the outside. And there were some times where my emotions were just so built up, I didn't know what to do. The only way that I could get instant gratification was through an immediate release on myself. I was performing concerts on an empty stomach. I was losing my voice from purging. I was self-medicating. I was not taking medication for depression, and I literally was so emotionally whacked out that I took it out on someone that meant a lot to me."

Knowing that at such an early age Demi Lovato had to grow up in front of the public where appearance is known to be very scrutinizing can be difficult. Going to rehab early and finding time for herself can take Demi to a positive place. Not only would she continue to be the role model she was to young girls, but her influence can reach so many others who are facing similar hardships. If you wait too long to fix something, sometimes it can be too late; it's important to get help as soon as you notice a negative pattern in your life...

I Found People-Watching More Interesting and Tasteful Than "TRON" Legacy 3D

          

The title speaks enough for itself. Being in Chicago visiting with friends a day before I head back to Detroit, I found watching people's fashion sense (how they put together their cold weather outerwear) more entertaining that Disney's TRON 3D.

REALLY? Disney spent $300 Million for THAT??! To me, a budget of $75 million to $100 million would be more feasible for a film in a.... moderate caliber.

Don't get me wrong, DISNEY did great with the special effects, but for some reason, I wasn't WOWED. I found myself nodding off in the dark at the sometimes predictable dialogue. If we are moving more and more into a 3D world, I should see "TRON 3D" in MUCH more 3D effects.

Overall, I expected more, but the hype of the movie just didn't take me there... I give the movie a 'B-'.
