SUPER BOWL HALFTIME SHOW 2012 RECAP!
First off, let me give a little shout out to the NY GIANTS!!! Growing up, I was "raised" to be against any team from the Boston area, and yes that includes the New England Patriots. And if you may ask, I am still totally against Tom Brady for leaving his ex-pregnant-wife for the ultimate supermodel Giselle Bundchen.
Now back to the relevant topic, the Super Bowl Halftime Show! So there was much anticipation with Madonna headlining the most watched halftime entertainment show, averaging 111.3 million views. But this year broke records, with 114 million people tuning in.
Madonna came out in Roman gear singing her old school hit "Vogue", then transitioned to her dance hit "Music". Then came the numerous guest appearances which definitely made the show for me. LMFAO was on was a good minute, and you know how much I LOVE THEM! Then Madonna sang her new single "Gimme All Your Love" with Nicki Minaj and M.I.A., and closing the show with "Like a Prayer" with Cee-Lo Green.
Though I give props to Madonna for doing a good job performing, I felt the lip-syching was too fake! I'm pretty disappointed that LMFAO only got a minute of camera time, and M.I.A. who I also LOVE is now getting a bad rep for her obscurities! Recently releasing her "Bad Girls" video which is absolutely amazing and addicting to watch, she had definitely burst back on the music scene, but now she's getting such bad publicity. "Supposedly", M.I.A. flipped off the camera and said "I don't give a shit", which I did not notice at all. Not instead of Madonna becoming the memorable part of the halftime performance, it's now M.I.A.'s expletive gesture.
What I felt stole the show was the amazing stage presentation from the Moment Factory, everything was definitely on point and made the entire performance come together beautifully from a visual point of view. Check out the Super Bowl Halftime Show for yourself!

CARSON DALY ANNOUNCES CHANGES FOR THE VOICE SEASON TWO
Because of it's popularity, The Voice as you know is already gearing up for season two. All four judges: Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Cee-Lo Green, and Christina Aguilera, will be judging/mentoring again this second time around.
But there will be a few changes to this singing competition in regards to the blind auditions:
"[We're] expanding, but not too much. With success in network TV, often they overdo it once they’ve got a hit. They tend to just sort of whore it out, if you will. We’re going to have longer blind auditions. We only had 2 episodes of it this season and all of a sudden we were into the battle rounds. I think there will be at least four weeks of our blind auditions so that people can really sink their teeth into that discovery process."
In regards to the relationship between mentor and contestant:
"We hang our hat on the fact that our coaches are mentoring these artists and not judging them. The relationship between them was something that was really cool. I mean, Blake put Dia and Xenia on his private jet. In season two, you’ll set that relationship much more in depth and with a little more quality time than we got to do it in season one."
Maybe the other judges will take a hint from Blake Shelton on how to mentor the contestants who are completely different than their genre. Seeing his relationship with his team and how invested he was in all of them, really made me admire him more as an artist but a person as well.

THE VOICE FINALE!!! AND THE WINNER IS...
The Voice finale was last night and I didn't know what to expect. With the show finally coming to a close, I have to say this singing competition was very different to others we have become accustomed to.
Performing live was Pitbull and Ne-Yo singing their dance hit "Give Me Everything" as well as country superstar Brad Paisley. But the performances that stole the show were from the four remaining contestants and their mentors.
Beverly McClellan is the bold rocker with a strong voice and crazy charisma. She debut her original song "Lovesick" and sang "Beautiful" with Christina Aguilera. I love Beverly's confidence on-stage, but I feel for the duet, Christina should've picked something more upbeat to showcase her voice and her stage persona that we all are rooting for.
LOVESICK:
BEAUTIFUL:
Vicci Martinez is the petite rocker girl with the booming voice that commands presence. She sang her original song "Afraid to Sleep" and performed "Love is a Battlefield" by Pat Benatar with mentor Cee-Lo Green. Their performance was very memorable and theatrical taking inspiration from the song's video. Best duet performance of the night!
AFRAID TO SLEEP:
LOVE IS A BATTLEFIELD:
Javier Colon is the family man with the smooth, velvety voice that croons America with his sweet and romantic song choices. His original song was called "Stitch by Stitch" and he performed "Man in the Mirror" by Michael Jackson with mentor Adam Levine. No one can deny his perfect voice that suits every song well and makes it his own.
STITCH BY STITCH:
MAN IN THE MIRROR:
Dia Frampton is the shy, multi-talented soulful artist who amazes you when you hear her voice. She debut her original song "Inventing Shadows" and performed "I Won't Back Down" by Tom Petty with mentor Blake Shelton. The duet was cute because it took a Blues Brothers theme with matching suits and Ray Bans. Throughout the season, she was the definite frontrunner with all her songs and performances ranking to #1 on iTunes.
INVENTING SHADOWS:
I WON'T BACK DOWN:
TODAY for the results show, the contestants took to the stage again but with their musical inspirations. Beverly McClellan and Ryan Tedder from One Republic sang "Good Life"; Vicci Martinez and Pat Monahan from Train sang "Drops of Jupiter"; Dia Frampton and Miranda Lambert sang "The House That Built Me"; and Javier Colon sang "Landslide" with the icon Stevie Nicks.
When the four remaining contestants took the stage together one last time for the final results, the two left standing were Javier Colon and Dia Frampton. From their original songs performed on the finale, Javier Colon's song "Stitch by Stitch" reached #2 on iTunes and Dia Frampton's original song "Inventing Shadows" landed the #1 spot on iTunes. Carson Daly then announced JAVIER COLON as the winner of The Voice awarding him #100,000 and a recording contract.
Though it was expected that Dia Frampton and Javier Colon would be the last ones standing, I seriously thought that Dia would win because every week her performances reached #1 on iTunes. Not to mention Javier Colon won by a mere 2% over fellow contestant Dia Frampton!!! SSO0O0 CLOSE!!! But it's great to see the family guy win. I'm sure all the other contestants will have no problem launching their musical careers after this show.
