(From THE ONLY JAIDEN: This is an excerpt from CLASH MUSIC News about Emporio Armani establishing a collaboration with Rihanna to produce her first collection. The above picture bears one of the designs)
In a week that saw Versace for H&M sell out in under an hour, and Rihanna bag a double whammy with both We Found Love and Talk That Talk hitting the No.1 spot (in the UK singles and album chart respectively), the pop princess followed in Donatella’s footsteps with a fashionable hook up of her own.
Announced as the face of Emporio Armani Underwear and Armani Jeans back in July, Friday saw Rihanna extend her association with the brand with the launch of a capsule collection. Capsule being the key word, the collection is made up of just a few key pieces (jeans, white tees and pretty undies), simple pieces we could happily stick to everyday no less.
There are two T-shirts, one baring Rihanna’s face, the other an ‘R’ placed atop the brand’s eagle logo, as well as two jeans options; the first are a glam skinny black pair, the second-apparently favoured by RiRi- a more casual blue wash boyfriend style with a tight leg. The latter comes complete with a blue, red and white bandana, presented as a belt but equally as fetching worn on one’s head.
Maintaining the rock credentials of the collection, a multi-zipped black leather jacket offers a take on the gritty styles seen in Rihanna’s controversial video for the aforementioned, We Found Love. A canvas bucket-backpack with leather trim and metal pendant finishes the Armani Jeans collection.
Not one to shy away from a bit of flesh baring-as her current Loud tour certainly highlights-Rihanna’s lacy underwear comes in cobalt blue and pearl grey, with lightweight bralettes and constructed bras sitting alongside pant styles aplenty; sexual and seductive, the pieces even include a small cameo of the gal’s face! Perhaps something for the more hardcore fans amongst us…
The collection is available in-store now at Bond Street, Brompton Road and Manchester Emporio Armani stores. Prices begin from £28.
